Abstract

Developing students’ thinking skills is one of the new visions of learning in the 21st century. Accordingly, teachers have to be prepared for being able to develop students’ thinking skills. This study examines modeling by teacher educators as a means of preparing the future teacher to be able to infuse thinking skills in their teaching. Through a case study methodology involving eight teacher educators, the results of this study serve to identify the teacher educators' practice in modeling an infusion lesson of thinking skills. The study found that modeling an infusion lesson of thinking skills was not common among teacher educators. None of the teacher educators emphasized thinking skills as part of their teaching goals. The study concludes by discussing the implications of the findings concerning the preparation of future teachers for infusing thinking skills in the classroom.
