Effect of source and level of phosphate fertilizer and spraying with Roselle extract on some growth indicators of sunflower plants (Helianthus annus L.)

Abstract

The field experiment was carried out during the spring season 2020 in Ibn Al Bitar Vocational Preparatory  in Alhusainean - Kerbala, To study the effect of source and level of phosphate fertilizer and spraying with Roselle extract on some growth indicators of sunflower plants (Helianthus annus L.),the factorial experiment was setup according to a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications, two factors was used the first factor was phosphate fertilizer (Control ,Urea phosphate 60 kg P.ha-1,Urea phosphate 120kg P.ha-1,DAP 60 Kg P.ha-1 , DAP 120 Kg P.ha-1,),The second factor was  Roselle extract (0, 4 , 8 gm. L-1). The results showed that (UP 120 Kg P. ha-1)  treatment led to a significant increase in number of leaves (22.64) and Steam diameter (29.08mm ) While the treatment(DAP 60 Kg P.ha-1) was superior in leaves area( 1.94 M2 ).as for the effect of Roselle extract, the concentration(8 gm.L-1) was a significant superior in plant height (214 cm) ,total chlorophyll(2.04mg.gm-1 fresh weight).the interaction treatment (8 gm.L-1 at  Urea phosphate 120kg P.ha-1) was superior to gave highest value in plant height , number of leaves and stem diameter (220.8cm,24.00 and 29.35mm),and it there was no significant difference between other interaction treatments in other indicators .We conclude from this applied study that the integrated application of source and level of phosphate fertilizer and spraying with Roselle extract  is more effective in improving sunflower growth
