Abstract

The purpose of this study was to check the effect of translanguaging on ESL learners at higher secondary level (HSS).  The majority of the respondents to this survey were HSS teachers and students. The data was gathered from Sadiqabad, particularly from students and teachers. The researcher created questionnaires that included both qualitative and quantitative comments and questions. This questionnaire was later utilized to gather data for the current investigation. The researchers ultimately collected 150 responses. According to the study's findings, lecturers and students frequently speak both Urdu and English as well as their native tongue when conducting class discussions and delivering lectures in a number of colleges across the nation. The third language is typically the native tongue of the studentsalthough its use in HSS is uncommon and quite limited when compared to the legally recognized medium of teaching. Only specific teachers and students in specific programs use the regional or mother tongues as needed. The conclusions have useful consequences for higher secondary school education in Pakistan and other similar contexts.
